The Signs of the Time — I don’t care if the town clown bellows, “Go on about your business as if nothing ever happened,” tell him what the nutty professor has to say, “Cream with your coffee anyone?”
At long last, relief lies ahead. No matter what the Fake News and liars and troublemakers try to say, there is a new day dawning.
Beginning May 28 Mercury is retrograde in Gemini. I would say that this retrograde asks us to be extra careful with all legal matters and don’t expect Congress to do us any favors. We are still in a very dark and dangerous time for the Confederacy. Any important decisions should be made after Mercury goes direct.
On June 10, 2021, an annular, or “ring of fire,” partial Solar Eclipse will occur in the U.S. in all or parts of Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
As Fats Domino of rock and roll fame would say, “There will be a whole lot of shaking going on.”
Venus continues in Gemini until June 2. Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto continue in retrograde as well. Pluto was the havoc maker with the event of Covid-19. Now that Pluto is retrograde you should see some breaks in devastation by the virulence of this toxic overlay. Pluto goes direct again on October 2.
The New York Times printed an article on May 7, 2020, dissing a few astrologers who predicted all these wonderful things that were supposed to happen to many astrological signs early in 2020–yet none mentioned anything like Covid-19. Let me be quite frank about astrology and how you should view it. Planets in Signs have tendencies, and often times a popular astrologist will hit bulls-eye in a situation. And then they miss by a country mile.
I have always considered myself more a proponent and practitioner of the incredible and masterful Dr. Carl Jung, who used astrological archetypes to help those who came to him for help to process difficulties in relationships. Chief among his intelligent and workable solutions was the Shadow, or the nature of the man within the woman or the woman within the man. His quote that sold me on him, “you can be neither healthy nor happy until you individuate and click connect to the only relationship that will ever make you happy: the Shadow self which you were born with.” I must say that I warned in late 2019 that the first few months in 2019 would be horrendous. The basis of my analysis was the planets Saturn and Pluto conjunct in Capricorn. The information I wrote for all signs in April 2020 was with stark awareness of coronavirus.
The best investment that I have ever made…
“I met Albert in late 1991 when my life was a mess and I did not know what to do. I went for an astrology reading reluctantly and at the end of it agreed to do the Sedona Intensive. I was in Sedona January 5-12 of 1992 and did my daily exercises and then continued with the program for 3 months upon returning home. By following Albert’s directions, even when some of it made no logical sense, my life was changed dramatically for the better over the next year. He put me on a path that I never could have imagined and I will be forever grateful for that. This eventually led to my current profession, beginning in 2005, as a life coach assisting clients in making big changes in their lives. The time and money spent with Albert all those years ago is the best investment that I have ever made and gave me insights and tools that I still use today.”

Monthly Insights for the Signs
Fire Signs
ARIES (March 19 – April 18)–With your ruling planet Mars in Cancer until June 12—you will then feel as if the world shifted to bless you when Mars slides into Fire Sign Leo. The most material among us always wants what they want when they want it—usually more money and travel as well as love on Nob Hill. Your life lesson today is that you will spend more of your life without the credit card or the keys to a vanity car or a mansion on the highest hill. Rather more time spent connecting to the Upper World.
LEO (July 22 – August 22)–You may want to see how and where to learn a few new tricks this month because your old soft shoe and dance won’t cut it. Now that the country has started to open up it is not time for you to expect applause at every corner you turn. Leo loves the limelight and all the sparkle he or she can conjure up, but you all had best find a new rhythm for your former bossa nova beat. Try a little giving to the needy instead of taking for you alone.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 20)–With your ruling planet Jupiter in square position from Pisces at this time of the year, learn what the Fishes are trying to teach you. Your middle name is run and dig for treasures 24/7; Pisces on the other hand is taking what they hear and making sure the news is coming from a true and trustworthy place. Stick to what you know and leave the clean-up detail to someone else. Soon you will be rolling in clover.
Earth Signs
TAURUS (April 19 – May 19)–Your ruling planet, Venus will leave Gemini on June 2nd and will move into Cancer—one of your best friends in the Zodiac. Also comfy Mars in Cancer until June 12 and blessing Jupiter in Pisces will make you feel as if you are surrounded by allies. Spend more time and money with charity and good causes to aid those who need a helping hand. And you may want to eat less and work out more. The Pandemic has padded too many pounds on most of us.
VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)–You Virgins might want to count your pocket change several times before you spend what you don’t have. Venus after June 2 will stabilize your emotions as well as your steady thinking and actions. Instead, let me remind all of you who grew up with the fun ditties that had life lessons within. It is time for you Mercury-ruled Virgos to turn the page and write a new resume for the wiser, more open-minded girls and boys you are turning out to be. The world will never be the same as it was, so start rewriting your script.
CAPRICORN (December 21 – January 19)–When most signs have been hobbled and making do with only one good leg to stand on, you Saturn-ruled Caps will be hearty and hale waiting for the nest challenge. You are known for endurance and never letting the naysayers and troublemakers get you down. Some of us Star Gazers look to you Capricorns to get us across the finish line. Hail heroes of the Zodiac.
Air Signs
GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)–Mercury will go retrograde at 24 degrees of Gemini on May 29 until it goes direct on June 23 at 16 degrees of Gemini. The retrograde will send you twins mixed messages during the month. The focus will be on changing yourself to the image you have of yourself. Though there will be many hurdles to this, chances are you will succeed in your efforts. Mainly the opposition will come from family members and social contacts.
LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)–Mercury retrograde in Gemini will have a tiny positive effect for you Venus-ruled, even-steven Libra types. Mars in Cancer until June 12 will wave a caution flag for you boys and girls sitting in the fair-and-balanced chairs. When Mars goes into Leo—compatible for Libra—you can twist and shout and carry on as if the God in the Upper World had your backs. Don’t get too Rumplestiltskin before you take an honest inventory to know the difference between gold and fool’s gold.
AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 17)–Saturn goes retrograde in Aquarius on May 23 at 13 degrees. Your Hard Rock this Solar Cycle is not being able to be a free-range chicken plucking and clucking all over the barnyard. Your assignment from on high is to tend to your own business, live on what you make, and be as grateful as much for what you don’t have as much as for what you do. Soon there will be a new day dawning for you Water Bearers.
Water Signs
CANCER (June 21 – July 21)–The fiery planet Mars, ruler of Aires, will continue to wreak havoc on Mommas and school girls until June 12. You may find a lot to cry about this month. Spend less and save more. Not a time to throw caution to the wind. The powerpoint of Moon-ruled Cancer is that the Moon changes signs every two and a half days. Best days for Cancers are May 20, 21; May 24, 25. June 1 – 3; June 6 – 8; June 11 – 13; June 20, 21.
SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)–No sign is forced to live inside out more than you High Masters of how to disregard all the fools’ names and fools’ faces. Your ruing planet Pluto in Capricorn is still feeding you the right directions as well as the messages for your mind and heart. When you are feeling achy breaky, it is time to get quiet and listen for the concrete guidance of your higher power. Being self-satisfied with what to do is your Birth Right.
PISCES (February 18 – March 18)–Your ruler Neptune has been enjoying squatter’s rights in your Pisces House he has been occupying for a few years now. The redeemed Fishes are going to get through the day without lying or cheating and doing the best they can to have a good life with honesty as their password. Actually, the Rules of the Game of Life on Earth have changed. The newest challenge is to understand that life is about all of us and not the chosen few, or should I say the one percent?
How My Journey Began
“I have been receiving the Sedona Intensive Newsletter for many years. I was inspired by the astrological information. I never really delve into what programs were offered. I thought it was a spa in the painted desert where you could spend a week to relax and rejuvenate. I remember when I first subscribed to the newsletter, I had mentioned it to my husband and said maybe when we have some time, we could look into going there for a vacation. Little did I know what was in store for me on that Tuesday morning in December 2020 when I decided to dial the phone number listed on the newsletter to find out what the program was about and whether it would benefit me.
“Quite honestly, I was surprised when Mr. Albert Gaulden answered the phone! Surely this man has a receptionist, I thought to myself. But it was him. I, nervous – I almost hung up. Here I was talking to the man of Sedona! I was a bit intimidated at first, but after our first session, he truly put me at ease. I told him my recent story about the loss of my husband and the way I had soothed the pain of grief through alcohol. As we talked, I knew I needed to be part of this program. Albert is a straight forward, no bullshit kind of man. You either like what he has to say or you don’t. And if you don’t, he’ll tell you to go pound sand! But in a not so nice way. Albert is so passionate about the work he does and takes a true interest in each client. The homework is brutal but I have learned so much about myself and why I have experienced everything I’ve been through in my life and how it brought me to where I am today.
“One must have an open mind and be willing to hear the tough talk. There was tough talk. There was difficult self-reflection. But this program is not for sissies. You’re either going to commit – or you’re not. And if you don’t commit – this is not the program for you. It is an emotional experience with a great deal of self-reflection. This program didn’t just guide me through understanding my alcohol addiction, but it has been more beneficial in helping me deal with the overwhelming grief I have experienced over the last 2 years after the death of my husband. I am whole again.”

Featured Article: School Libraries Are the Bedrock of Freedom
By Joann and Kenneth C. Davis
See original article at Publisher’s Weekly here: https://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/columns-and-blogs/soapbox/article/86281-school-libraries-are-the-bedrocks-of-freedom.html
Do you remember getting your first library card and borrowing your first book? For many of us, it was a rite of passage guided by a human search engine—a librarian.
In school, that librarian did more than shush the loudmouths, straighten the stacks, and stamp our books. The school librarian helped with homework, taught us kids how to “look it up,” and opened pathways to critical thinking. Librarians fulfilled the vision of 25-year-old Benjamin Franklin, who established the Library Company, America’s first lending library, in Philadelphia in 1731. Initially, a subscription library in which members paid a fee, the Library Company was “crowdsourced”—the first members pooled their own books to share with one another.
Franklin believed in keeping the membership fee low so that working people could afford to join. The idea caught on and spread through the colonies, making this cultural institution widely available. It became the forerunner of the public library, and when Philadelphia was the nation’s capital, the Library Company served as the Library of Congress.
Person of the Month: Bette Midler
I saw Bette Midler performing at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in the late 70’s. She was so amazing and such a talent that I have kept my eye on her and seen all Her movies. This book tells the story from Hawaii to the big stages and in movies. I suggest you get it and read about a woman who does a lot for culture and those less fortunate.– Albert Gaulden
Featured Book: On the Brink of Everything: Grace, Gravity, and Getting Old
From beloved and bestselling author Parker J. Palmer (Let Your Life Speak, The Courage to Teach, Healing the Heart of Democracy), comes a beautiful book of reflections on what we can learn as we move closer to “the brink of everything.”
Drawing on eight decades of life — and his career as a writer, teacher, and activist — Palmer explores the questions age raises and the promises it holds. “Old,” he writes, “is just another word for nothing left to lose, a time to dive deep into life, not withdraw to the shallows.”

I Talked to the Cassandra of the Internet Age
New York Times opinion by Charlie Warzel
The internet rewired our brains. He predicted it would.
Michael Goldhaber is the internet prophet you’ve never heard of. Here’s a short list of things he saw coming: the complete dominance of the internet, increased shamelessness in politics, terrorists co-opting social media, the rise of reality television, personal websites, oversharing, personal essay, fandoms and online influencer culture — along with the near destruction of our ability to focus.
Most of this came to him in the mid-1980s, when Mr. Goldhaber, a former theoretical physicist, had a revelation. He was obsessed at the time with what he felt was an information glut — that there was simply more access to news, opinion and forms of entertainment than one could handle. His epiphany was this: One of the most finite resources in the world is human attention. To describe its scarcity, he latched onto what was then an obscure term, coined by a psychologist, Herbert A. Simon: “the attention economy.”
These days, the term is a catch-all for the internet and the broader landscape of information and entertainment. Advertising is part of the attention economy. So are journalism and politics and the streaming business and all the social media platforms. But for Mr. Goldhaber, the term was a bit less theoretical: Every single action we take — calling our grandparents, cleaning up the kitchen or, today, scrolling through our phones — is a transaction. We are taking what precious little attention we have and diverting it toward something. This is a zero-sum proposition, he realized. When you pay attention to one thing, you ignore something else…

Moments and Windstorms: Take Back Your Power
This ground-breaking book offers an in-depth journey through the author’s eye-opening addiction to alcohol and how he eventually got sober. Gaulden has written a number of books as well as being Founding Director of the Sedona Intensive, one of the country’s most highly regarded alternative personal growth programs.
The author shares all the ways God was leading and guiding him even when he was still drinking. “Most of us look at false paradigms to measure success in our lives. So much of where I went and the jobs I took helped me remember what I was to do as my life’s work.”
Gaulden’s book is divided into five parts. Each section explores different parts of his journey, incorporating all the places he’s been, the studies he’s made and the people he’s met. His point of view is that each client who sought his help made him a better person. At the end of the book, he has some daunting but hopeful words about the conditions of the planet Earth and what we need to do to survive as a race.

What Our Clients Are Saying About The Sedona Intensive
“The Sedona Intensive was a life changing experience for me. I had been searching for happiness and serenity for over 20 years and as a result of the Intensive I found that I was looking in all the wrong places. I not only experienced what happiness and serenity truly are but now understand the process needed to maintain and enhance that state of being. It doesn’t mean that I don’t experience the ups and downs of life but what it does mean is that those downs do not even come close to impacting me the way they used to. There is now a presence of mind that provides clarity and purpose that did not exist for me prior to the Intensive.
It is impossible to put a value on such a quality of life enhancing experience that the Sedona Intensive provides the person willing to do the work.It is by far the most significant thing I have done in my 62 years.
I came across a quote last week that summed up what I experienced and learned while attending the Sedona Intensive – ‘Once you stop clinging and let things be, you’ll be free’ -Bodhidharma (440ce – 528 ce), the Zen Teaching of Bodhidharma: A Bilingual Edition.”
