NEW BOOK by Albert Clayton Gaulden
Moments and Windstorms: Take Back Your Power
This ground-breaking book offers an in-depth journey through the author’s eye-opening addiction to alcohol and how he eventually got sober. Gaulden has written a number of books as well as being Founding Director of the Sedona Intensive, one of the country’s most highly regarded alternative personal growth programs.
The author shares all the ways God was leading and guiding him even when he was still drinking. “Most of us look at false paradigms to measure success in our lives. So much of where I went and the jobs I took helped me remember what I was to do as my life’s work.”
Gaulden’s book is divided into five parts. Each section explores different parts of his journey, incorporating all the places he’s been, the studies he’s made and the people he’s met. His point of view is that each client who sought his help made him a better person. At the end of the book, he has some daunting but hopeful words about the conditions of the planet Earth and what we need to do to survive as a race.

The Signs of the Time–Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are still retrograde to begin the Gemini Solar Cycle. Saturn and Pluto being retrograde will not wreck much havoc while Jupiter’s blessed shower over Scorpio will also be curtailed somewhat.
There will be a Full Moon at 8 degrees of Sagittarius on May 29. Full Moons can be a bump in the road–it certainly portends either the ending of a situation or relationship and/or a new beginning. What we all need to wrap our minds around is that all these aspects are part of the Order of the Universe. Since some of us know that the Lower World is Reform School where we must make our amends and atone for past deeds in other places and other times, facing what we need to do when the Celestial Movements demand it is part of life in the Lower World. Challenges to change the things we can–always and only ourselves–are opportunities not onuses.
The good news for the Twins is that their ruler, Mercury goes into Gemini on May 30 until June 13. This is very fortuitous for Geminis.
There is a New Moon at 22 degrees of Gemini on June 13 at 9:32 AM EDT. Mars in Aquarius will be an added book to the Twins as Mars is energy and movement. In astro-jargon, this is going to be a great Solar Cycle for you Geminis.
The sermon for this month is that too many of us judge a day or week as being good or bad in alignment with what our ego-self needs for us to experience. I tell people all the time that getting sober was the best bend in the road for my life. The first few years were tougher than nails but worth every difficult moment I encountered. Ego is a dark and dangerous part of our outer persona. Don’t get me started on psycho-babble that we all need a strong ego. No, we need to die to self and be reborn as who God created us to be. Soon I am going to publish all the nefarious ways the Ego uses to keep us stuck as who we are not.
Fire Signs
ARIES (March 20 – April 18)–There are so many caution flags for you ram-ruled Aries that you better sit down and consider all options before you sign any big deals that just might fizzle before the ink is dry. Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn are certainly signs of interference. Venus in Cancer is also a stickler for you. And most of all, Uranus left Aries and went into Taurus May 15 to begin a 7-year run through the Zodiac. The one bright spot for you this Solar Cycle is that your ruling planet is in compatible Aquarius all month long. See, there is a ray of sunshine for you Aries this month.
LEO (July 22 – August 21)–“I’m sitting on top of the world…” is the song you’ll be singing this Solar Cycle. The New and Full Moon will bring exciting new opportunities, especially in affairs of the heart. If you are already married or in a committed relationship, there are others ways this benefits you. This streak of good fortune will come to you in your workplace. It is also fortuitous for buying or selling a house or a new automobile. But always there is the caveat of not becoming too risky in the Stock Market or too apt to spend more money that you don’t have.
SAGITTARIUS (November 21 – December 20)–The Full Moon at 8 degrees of Sagittarius on May 29 will impact you Archers in a profound way. Some of us think of Full Moons as a time to review where you are in major areas of your life and decide when it is time to let go of a person, place or thing to make your life simpler and more manageable. In less than six months your ruling planet Jupiter will be back into your sign of Sagittarius. For one year you will be able to expand and move and make your life better than it has ever been. Continue to clear away the clutter in your life.
Earth Signs
TAURUS (April 19 – May 19)–With your ruling planet, Venus in Cancer from May 20 to June 13 you are rocking and rolling big time. Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, albeit retrograde, are also helpful. Neptune in Pisces also aids and abets your high hopes. Mercury in Taurus from May 20 to May 30 will also make you feel like all systems are a go. And then along comes Mars in Aquarius to try to upset the apple cart. Taurus is solid as a rock and hates things that appear out of left field; Aquarius thrives on the unknown and unique. Batten down the hatches for that aspect.
VIRGO (August 22 – September 21)–You’ll have 10 days from May 20 until May 30 to benefit from your ruling planet, Mercury in the sign of Taurus. For the remainder of the Gemini Solar Cycle Mercury will be in Gemini–not a boon for you Virgos. What you should accept and expect is that all celestial movement of planets is designed to refine all signs in the Zodiac. If all aspects were favorable none of us would be required to change and deal with tough and trying requirements to be more effective human beings.
CAPRICORN (December 21 – January 18)–With Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, albeit retrograde, this is like a double whammy of difficulty for you Goats. Venus in Cancer opposing Capricorn from May 20 until June 13 is also a mother lode of hard times. As those of us who track the movement of planets know, Capricorns handle harsher times better than any other sign of the Zodiac. Saturn rules Capricorn so you are being refined and made ready for whatever no sign can do quite as efficiently as you Goats. Keep plugging and whittling away at whatever blocks your handiwork. You will succeed.
Air Signs
GEMINI (May 20 – June 19)–Once you face the Full Moon at 8 degrees of Sagittarius on May 29, your life is going to be amazingly happy, joyous and free. It is about time you Twins expressed yourselves as One instead of the Two of you. This column is not usual and party-line perfect because our experience has taught us that it is never the outer world that will fulfill you but how you clean out the clutter of nonsense from your head and heart. Geminis, it is about time that you pleased yourself instead of all those around you who need for you to be who they think you are. Live free and clear, mes amis.
LIBRA (September 22 – October 21)–Since your ruling planet Venus is in Cancer for much of the Gemini Solar Cycle you might want to avoid possible unpleasant interactions with clients, family and friends. Now is a good time for you to tend to your inner world and stay away from possible hostile face-to-face interactions with anyone. However, the Full Moon in Sagittarius and the New Moon in Gemini will prove to be beneficial to you. These lunations will strengthen your inner world and allow you to weather anything that comes down the pike.
AQUARIUS (January 19 – February 18)–Your ruling planet Uranus has moved into Taurus for a seven-year run, so you had best get ready for sudden and disruptive events in your life. What we all need to understand is that what seems like a rosy path to fulfillment may really turn out to have thorns that prick and irritate. Mars in Aquarius throughout the Gemini Solar Cycle may energize and lift your spirits–but on the other hand, Mars has been known to irritate and upset. You Water Bearers are such independent spirits you might want to rethink choices you’ve made and try to unwind or make drastic corrections.
Water Signs
CANCER (June 20 – July 21)–Known for your need to control the set when the movie’s being shot and acting out and acting up when you don’t get your way, this Solar Cycle is the 31 days to atone and amend your behavior. Since Cancer is ruled by the Moon, neither the Full Moon nor the New Lunation are going to be in synch with what you want and how you like it. With all the brouhaha and silliness in the world in social media you might want to look elsewhere for how to go inward and learn to love yourself and tend to your own business.
SCORPIO (October 22 – November 20)–Venus in Cancer from May 20 until June 13 will aid and abet your workplace and choices you make with wherever you have put a lot of energy. Jupiter in Scorpio is still retrograde until July 11. You will still receive the power and positivity of Jupiter but oftentimes the retrograde of a planet diminishes its effects. Stick to your guns and do what you are doing. Go over and review constantly your agenda. Do not strike out when your intuition disagrees with your game plan. Always trust your gut.
PISCES (February 19 – March 19)–Your ruling planet, Neptune, continues in the Sign it rules, Pisces. Neptune can indicate creativity and highly-evolved intuition but can also foreshadow compulsive and erratic behavior. Neptune also can make one a bit paranoid and delusional but it is balance that is required for us Fishes. When I was growing up with my Pisces, I loved a song of the time, “Beautiful Dreamer.” One of the greatest gifts an astrologist gave me before I even started my journey among the Stars was “Run what you think is a great idea by someone you trust before you start galloping off to what you think is your manifest destiny.” I did and spared myself some, but not all, huge mistakes.

View From a Chair by Marilyn Gard
If you were to find yourself confined to a wheelchair, how would you handle it? View From A Chair chronicles the author’s experience of being chair-bound from multiple sclerosis for the majority of her adult life. Starting with an illusion of invulnerability to the reality of total dependence on caregivers whoaren’tdependable, she describes the frustrations and challenges of disability with honesty and humor.
Her search for meaning led from Christianity to New Age to Native American. Her book is laced with references to the spiritual search that culminated in conversion to Judaism a few years ago. Because she is a lesbian who came out during the 1960’s and 70’s when women married in an attempt to conform to society’s values and were shamed by Christian leaders if they dared to love another woman, she shares her struggle to find peace with her sexual orientation while simultaneously dealing with increasing disability.
If you find yourself dependent on caregivers, you will appreciate the honest appraisal of caregiver experiences. “It is rare to read a personal account that at the same time breaks your heart and uplifts you. View from a Chair accomplishes that. The reader will never interact with a person in a wheelchair in the same way after reading this personal account.
“I met this delightful author at Network Chiropractic here in Neverland waiting to get an adjustment. I decided to add and recommend her book because her story is both riveting and uplifting.”

Couples Who Went to the Extreme to Save Their Marriage
An interview with Carl and Joyce Gioia in RedBook Magazine
When Joyce Gioia couldn’t think of anything else to save her marriage and solve the trust issues that were tearing her and her husband, Carl, apart, she decided to make an investment into what she hoped could be a life-long, loving marriage. They packed their bags and headed to the Sedona Intensive: A $16,000 week-long intensive therapy session that helps people release all self-destructive behaviors.
The purpose of this particular therapy was to help them become stronger individuals, and the counseling was never couple-based. In fact, they only saw each other once per morning at 7 a.m. when they attended a 12-step meeting. The meetings addressed addictions—but it had nothing to do with substance abuse—it was focused on things like work addictions and co-dependence issues.
Between the supervised journaling, visits with renowned mental health professionals, and their genuine will to make things work, Carl and Joyce were able to recover their relationship.
“I believed that the nature and the intensity of this self-learning experience would help us move beyond the impasse that was preventing a resolution in our marriage,” Joyce said. And she was right. By looking at each other as total individuals, they were able to discover what was most important to their spouse and cater to those specific needs. Two years have passed and they’re more in love than ever.
Q & A
RedBook – Explain what the Sedona intensive is.
The Sedona Intensive is a rigorous, weeklong self-exploration. During the week, through concentrated journaling and visits with mental and physical health professionals, we each invested a lot of effort and energy in self-discovery. This self-learning experience is designed and managed by well-respected psychologist Albert Gaulden and includes daily meeting with Albert to monitor progress and ensure results.
RedBook – How did you find out about it?
My brother, who is a nationally acclaimed Emergency Department physician, had gone through this experience with his wife Amber and highly recommended it to us.
RedBook – What did you do at the Sedona intensive?
Every day, we began by attending a 12-Step Meeting with AA. Then, we had a rotating schedule of appointments with a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a yoga instructor, and/or an energy-balancing professional, and of course, Albert. In our “spare” time, we took independent hikes, though the spectacular Sedona canyons.
RedBook – What made you decide to go to this?
We decided to do it, because nothing else seemed to be working to resolve our trust issues. I believed that the nature and intensity of this self-learning experience would help us move beyond the impasse that was preventing resolution of our marriage.
RedBook – How did it change your relationship?
We both worked very hard to discover why we engaged in self-destructive behaviors that stood in the way of our sharing the loving relationship we both thought possible. Two years later, we are more in love than ever before.
RedBook – Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, absolutely, if the two people are prepared to approach the experience with open hearts and minds and they are truly interested in doing the work to strengthen the relationship.
Lindsay, as I said before, “I honestly do not know what else we might have done that would have been so effective in turning the relationship around”.
Joyce Gioia

What Our Clients Are Saying About The Sedona Intensive
“The Sedona Intensive was a life changing experience for me. I had been searching for happiness and serenity for over 20 years and as a result of the Intensive I found that I was looking in all the wrong places. I not only experienced what happiness and serenity truly are but now understand the process needed to maintain and enhance that state of being. It doesn’t mean that I don’t experience the ups and downs of life but what it does mean is that those downs do not even come close to impacting me the way they used to. There is now a presence of mind that provides clarity and purpose that did not exist for me prior to the Intensive.
It is impossible to put a value on such a quality of life enhancing experience that the Sedona Intensive provides the person willing to do the work.It is by far the most significant thing I have done in my 62 years.
I came across a quote last week that summed up what I experienced and learned while attending the Sedona Intensive – ‘Once you stop clinging and let things be, you’ll be free’ -Bodhidharma (440ce – 528 ce), the Zen Teaching of Bodhidharma: A Bilingual Edition.”
