The Geometry of Genesis: A Theosophical Synopsis

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

IN THE BEGINNING, there was a circle. The circle tried to create something new but each time it just created another circle. Six times the Viracocha tried, and six times there was frustration. Then, on the tenth try, the circles aligned themselves in a way that brought about the formation of three lines. The Viracocha created two more circles, totaling 9, which allowed the three lines to touch each other. And the first triangle was born.

And the triangles themselves began to procreate, and change became plentiful.

And change began to take place in the circles themselves, for the triangles-three at a time-began to nest themselves inside the circles.

And the triangle thus began to live among the parts as well as the whole.

And after the tenth circle was created, the Viracocha rested, for change no longer needed the creator.

And other shapes were birthed, the square, the cube, the hexagon, the rectangle, and many others.

And the universe experienced variation in quality and kind.

And intercourse took upon the shapes, creating even more shapes.

And the universe became complex and intricate.

And this continued until every piece was no longer pure, but a blend of perfection, change and imperfection.

And this too continued until change became conscious of itself.

And when consciousness was born, it began to ally itself with some, and renounce others, giving birth to individuality, morality and free will.

And consciousness began to learn, and knowledge was born.

And knowledge was passed from one generation to the next, creating history.

And those who allied themselves with perfection became to know Spirit.

And those who severed their alliance began to worship themselves, and the individual began to compete for God’s status, giving birth to ego.

And this further diluted the purity of the universe, which brought about a profound sense of isolation, and fear.

And fear multiplied, and goodness faultered, for the connection to the Viracocha was severed.

And the Viracocha looked over the universe with regret, for there was too much suffering.

And the Viracocha took to intervention with a young boy. And together they invoked the spiral dance, rupturing the universe in a way that would extend the reach of freedom. But the fear was too great for lost eyes to see, and suffering continued.

But the Viracocha and the boy were determined and righteous and humble. And their faith was equal to their actions, and their humility guided them straight.

And they were joined by a drunkard and a nurse.

And great change would come upon the drunkard. And he and the woman would form a union, and the spiral dance would bless the woman in anticipation.

And the Viracocha taught the young boy, who by now, was a man. And don Humberto taught the man and woman about the rupture and the spiral dance and the Viracocha’s desire to make amends.

And they did as don Humberto instructed, despite their ignorance, for their faith was sound and lucid.

And the woman would suffer great tragedy for her role.

And the man would be tried for killing her.

And the entire world would bear witness to the rupture.

And the universe was rebalanced, and the Viracocha was glad.

And the people were angered, for they feared their new freedom, having developed affection for their bondage, a strange security for which they could not let go.
